Dr. Samina Nafees Ahmad MBBS, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFSRH

Dr. Samina Ahmad is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, UK, and holds a diploma in Women’s Health from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, UK; a diploma in Family Planning and Sexual Health from the University of Manchester, UK, and a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery from Khyber Medical College, Pakistan. She also has a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from the Royal College of General Practitioners, UK.

Dr. Ahmad has an extensive 16 year hands-on training in family medicine departments including general medicine, general surgery, accident and emergency, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology under the Royal College of General Practitioners, UK. She was appointed as consultant in family medicine in a leading healthcare institution managing the health of over 9,000 patients in Manchester, UK. Her special interest revolves around women’s health and health education.

 
Dr. Hamed Mofeez Anwar FRCOphth(London), FRCS(Glasg), ICO, MBBS

Dr. Anwar has over 14 years of experience in Cornea and external eye disease. He has a special interest in Cataract, Cornea and Refractive surgery. Dr Anwar trained in the UK and undertook his Corneal Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital London; he holds fellowships from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London as well as from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons from Glasgow. He is on the GMC specialist register for Ophthalmology. He is an active member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He previously held a post as an Associate Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Neuroscience at Newcastle University. His work on lamellar corneal transplantation has earned him several accolades including Best papers of session at the ASCRS and the UKISCRS, along with two Golden Ribbons from the AAO. He is an active educator, both at a postgraduate and undergraduate level, including several of his articles being featured in international publications including Cornea, Clinical Ophthalmology Journal and the Journal of Refractive Surgery. He has also presented at several international conferences including ESCRS, ARVO, ASCRS, and the AAO. He is actively involved in philanthropic work with the Graham Layton Trust, London, a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to preventing blindness in Pakistan
 
Dr. Hani Rifai

Dr. Hani Rifai is a Pediatric ENT Specialist at HealthPlus Children’s Specialty Center. With more than 10 years of experience working at pediatric units in Canada, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, Dr. Hani brings with him a vast international expertise. His special interest lies in childhood conditions and advance surgeries of ear, nose and throat. Dr. Hani completed his fellowship from Stollery Children's Hospital, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, after  graduating from the American University of Beirut.

 
Dr. Hazem Al Momani MBBS, FRCS

Dr. Al Momani earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan in 2001. After qualifying, he started his surgical training in the United Kingdom, during which he was awarded the Gwilym Griffith Travelling Fellowship which enabled him to visit the Cancer Institute Hospital in Tokyo where he learnt the principles of laparoscopic gastric surgery. Dr. Al Momani became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2013. Upon completing his higher surgical training, he further went on to hold the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS) fellowship in Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Al Momani has a broad experience in general and emergency surgery, providing specialized care for patients requiring Laparoscopic Bariatric (Weight Loss) Surgery, Laparoscopic Anti-Reflux and Hiatus Hernia Surgery, Laparoscopic Gall Bladder Surgery and Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery. Before joining Danat Al Emarat Hospital, he worked as a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon in Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, UK. Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr. Hazem at Danat Al Emarat Hospital include; gastroscopy, hernia surgery, gallbladder / gallstone removal (cholecystectomy), gastric bypass surgery,  gastric band surgery,  gastric sleeve surgery (sleeve gastrectomy) and gastric balloon (weight loss balloon). His scope of services includes weight loss surgery, obesity surgery, endoscopy, gastrointestinal surgery, hernia repair surgery, laparoscopic surgery and minimal access surgery.

Dr. Islam Sidky completed his medical degree from Cairo University, Egypt in 1981 and his post graduate training at Johns Hopkins Hospitals, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He received the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1993. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists and American Society of Reproductive Medicine, USA. He is also a member of the European Society of Gynecologic Endoscopy, Society of Laparoendscopic Surgeons and Islamic Medical Association of North America, as well as the Emirates Medical Association (EMA), UAE. He is also an Associate of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, UK and is a founding member of the Middle East Society for Gynecology Endoscopy.

With more than 26 years of experience, Dr. Sidky has worked as a private physician at the North Hills Medical Center in South Caroline before moving to Henry Ford Hospital, Michigan as a Senior Physician. In 1997, he moved to the UAE as a Consultant, Obstetrics & Gynecology at Corniche Hospital. Before joining Danat Al Emarat Hospital, he was the Acting Chairman and Chief of Minimal Invasive Gynecology of the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department at Tawam Hospital, Al Ain, UAE.

Dr. Ossuetta has a MBBS from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and MRCP, Ireland – as well as CCST Pediatrics and Neonatology and FRCPCH, UK.  With 25 years of experience, Dr. Ossuetta was a Consultant Neonatologist at UCLH, UK (2003–2004), Luton and Dunstable Hospital (2004–2011) and Corniche Hospital (2011–2015).

 
Dr. Mahmoud BenBarka

Dr. Mahmoud BenBarka currently works as a Consultant at the HealthPlus Diabetes & Endocrinology Center. With over 30 years of experience in the field, Dr. Benbarka qualified from Ain Shams University School of Medicine, Cairo, Egypt in 1976. In 1979, he moved to the USA for further training. He started by Research Fellowship in Endocrinology & Metabolism, University of Alabama Medical Centre, Birmingham, Alabama, till 1982.  Following which he proceeded to his residency at Baystate Medical Centre (an affiliate of Tufts University Medical School), Springfield, Massachusetts, USA till 1984.  Subsequently he joined the University of California, Davis, Medical Center, in Sacramento, California, as a clinical fellow in the division of endocrinology, leading to his board certification in medicine and endocrinology in 1984 and 1985 respectively.  

He progressed in his academic career at the University of California, Davis, Medical Centre, Sacramento, California, from Associate Physician (1986-1988) to Assistant Professor (1988-1995) and Associate Professor (1995-2002) when he moved to the UAE.  While at the University of California, Davis, Medical Centre,   he was also served as the Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship Training Program between 1996 and 2002. Dr Benbarka moved to the United Arab Emirates in 2002 to assume the responsibility of the head of the division of endocrinology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical city (SKMC), a post that he held until he joined in July 2015.

Dr. Nigel Beejay is a Consultant Physician/Gastroenterologist at Advanced Center for Daycare Surgery since 2014 and works in the world renowned Harley Street and the BMI London Independent Hospital in London. Dr. Beejay is Certified in the US and UK, with over 15 years of experience in General Medicine, Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and Liver Disease.

Dr. Beejay received his training in Cambridge University, Boston University, University of London and University of Toronto. He lectures about endoscopy in the Faculty of St. George's Hospital. Dr. Beejay also lectures internationally in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.

From 2009 to 2014, Dr. Beejay was appointed Consultant Physician and Chair of the Health Information Management Committee at a tertiary 571 bed, teaching hospital managed by Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi. Prior to that, Dr. Beejay practiced in London for 6 years and was Lead Consultant for Gastroenterology/Endoscopy at Newham University Hospital, London and Consultant at Barts and the London NHS Trust. Dr. Beejay completed the prestigious Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy/Endoscopic Oncology Fellowship at the Wellesley Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital and University of Toronto between 2000 to 2002. 

 
Dr. Rasha Abbas
Consultant, Psychiatry

Dr. Rasha completed her basic psychiatry training in London Charing Cross Hospital Training Scheme and her higher training in Scotland NHS Grampian and Lothian. She has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) since 2004, and also complemented her training with a Certificate of Management of Substance Abuse from Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Scotland. She was also awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Psychiatry with Endorsement in Addiction Psychiatry. 

Dr. Rasha main clinical areas of interest are anxiety and affective disorders, smoking cessation and perinatal psychiatry. She is passionate about using a holistic patient-centered approach to treat mental disorders; incorporating biological, psychological and social perspectives. She has considerable clinical experience in diagnosing and treating mental illness such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, psychosis such as schizophrenia, addiction disorders and perinatal mental disorders. Prior to joining Danat Al Emarat Hospital and HealthPlus Network of Specialty Centers, Dr. Rasha worked as Psychiatrist Consultant at the American Center in Abu Dhabi since 2012. She has previously, held the position of Psychiatrist Consultant in NHS (National Health Service) Scotland. Throughout her experience, she was actively involved in teaching as well as public education as a clinical supervisor, examiner and lead tutor for medical students in Scotland. She held the academic position of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecture in Dundee University, Scotland.

 
Dr. Sadoon Sadoon MBChB, MRCOG, CABOG, FICMS

Dr. Sadoon earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Al Mustansiryah University, Baghdad, 1992. He also earned a diploma in Obstetrics & Gynecology from Baghdad University, 1998. He has a Certificate of the Arab Board for Higher Specialisations in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (CABOG), 1998. His other qualifications include; Diploma in Minimal Invasive Surgery, 2014, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery SSM. RCOG (London), 2005, Certification in Hysteroscopic Surgery SSM. RCOG (London), 2005.

Dr. Sadoon has more than 25 years of experience, working in many reputable hospitals and medical centers. Lately he was the division chief of Gynecology, chair of obstetrics & gynecology, lead for minimal invasive surgery in one of the leading hospitals in Abu Dhabi. He was also an obstetrics & gynecology consultant at Medway Maritime Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and an honorary senior lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent. He specializes in advanced laparoscopic gynecological surgeries, management of endometriosis cases and polycystic ovaries

 
Dr. Shweta Uppal MBBS

Dr. Uppal completed her MBBS from the Goa Medical College in India and obtained her diploma in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology in the USA with the American Board of Pathology. Her other qualifications include fellowships done in surgical pathology, oncology and cytopathology, as well as a certification of the American Board of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Uppal has worked at a number of healthcare organizations, including the Super Religare Reference Lab and Wilkes Barre General Hospital in India and the USA. She also has teaching experience at the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey and the Aureus University School of Medicine Aruba.
