The Conference

The WCO PICARD Conference provides a platform for academics and policymakers from around the world to present their research, interact, and discuss vital policy issues that impact Customs and international trade.

A Ten-Year Legacy

2015 marks the tenth anniversary of the PICARD Conference. First unveiled in Brussels in 2006, the Conference went from strength to strength, welcoming participants in Shanghai in 2008, Costa Rica in 2009, Abu Dhabi in 2010, Geneva in 2011, Marrakesh in 2012, Saint Petersburg in 2013 and Puebla, Mexico in 2014. Building on the success of previous Conferences, the 2015 edition of the PICARD Conference will focus on high-level exchanges on international trade, Customs professionalism and topics integral to Customs administrations worldwide.

Call for Papers

The PICARD Conference Call for Papers was issued in January 2015 and invites submissions on any topic directly or indirectly related to Customs or international trade, such as the connection between global value chains and Customs procedures; taxation and other revenue matters; and smuggling.

The deadline for paper submissions was 1 June. Selected authors will be notified by 15 July. The agenda will be updated accordingly.

Interpretation

·        Simultaneous interpretation in Azerbaijani, English, French, Russian and Spanish will be provided during the Conference.
