Event Description
Election 2020 is here, but you don’t have to tackle it alone. Middle and high school students can analyze election issues and create media to share their views and connect with peers across the nation. In this workshop for grades 6-12 educators of all subjects, participants will delve into what makes a strong civic commentary and get hands on, by scripting and creating a model of a short audio commentary to bring back to the classroom. Join the Bay Area Writing Project and KQED on this day dedicated to amplifying the voices of young people as they tackle issues of importance to themselves and the future of our nation.

Goals:
  • Teachers will explore how to implement a similar project with students
  • Teachers will create/produce a model of civically engaged writing around the election--in audio format!
