Peru is basically a country of open doors. The entry into Peru for Citizens from most American and Western European countries does not require a tourist visa. The maximum period of stay granted by the authorities is 183 days (cannot be extended). Visa for longer periods of time is available for other purposes (business, study, work, etc.) and in these cases it is necessary to apply for the corresponding visa at a Peruvian consulate in your own country.
In order to enter to Peru it is essential to carry along a valid passport. Citizens from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela and Chile don’t need a passport so they may enter with their valid national ID.
