Director of Enrollment and Marketing

Karla Vargas is currently Director of Enrollment and Marketing at Foxcroft. Karla has brought to the role a wealth of expertise and experience in admission, financial aid, and marketing in a variety of educational settings, including independent schools, boarding schools and undergraduate, graduate and online programs. Foxcroft has been impressed with Karla’s strategic thinking and results-oriented leadership of new programs throughout her various professional roles, as well as her warmth and energy. Karla cemented her career in education at Mercersburg Academy, where she taught Spanish, lived on a dorm, and served as Director of the ESLPlus Summer Language Enrichment Program. Between 2004-2012, she moved into graduate school enrollment, serving as Director of Financial Aid at both Cornell Law School and then University of Chicago Law School. From there, Karla expanded her experience in her role as Assistant Vice President of Traditional Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio Texas, where she met her husband William “Rusty” Kennedy, who was Head Coach of the women’s basketball team. She moved on to to Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT, as Dean of Recruitment and Admissions and then Associate Dean of Graduate Programs. Karla most recently served as Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland, Mississippi, where she oversaw the recruitment and retention of 1,150 students in grades PreK-3-12. A life-long learner, Karla earned a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature and Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Western New Mexico University. She holds a Certificate in Marketing from Cornell University and is working on a Certificate in Enrollment Management from the Association of Independent School Admission Professionals (AISAP).
