You've Admitted Me, Now Help Me Stay: Creating a Transition Program for Non-Traditional Students and Families

Faculty
, Director of Financial Aid and Student Transition, Episcopal School of Jacksonvile

Description

Independent schools are tasked to create diverse campus environments. The admission of qualified non-traditional students contributes to campus diversity, but many of these students and families are unprepared to meet the challenges and reap the benefits of the independent school world. The unique independent school experiences of the presenter as an independent school alum, teacher, coach, and parent led his school to charge him with creating a transition program to help these nontraditional students and families after admission. He will share his successes and the lessons learned as he developed this program. This workshop will be a collaborative journey to identify and quantify challenges at your school, allowing you to create or enhance your own student transition program for the nontraditional student.
