Technical Tour 1

At the heart of the cotton zone in Korhogo
(Organiser: Capital Connect)

Visitors are offered an excursion into the city of Korhogo, bastion of cotton production in Côte d’Ivoire. Located in the north of the country (630 km from Abidjan), it is accessible by road and by air.

The country's largest cotton-producing region in terms of volume, the territory of Korhogo and its surroundings (Poro region) offer visitors a picturesque landscape of savannah where the orchards of cashews, mango and shea harmoniously coexist with cotton fields and a fauna rich with the animal species found in tropical regions.

Korhogo — through cotton farms, ginning factories, seed-crushing plants, and all of the economic activity that revolves around cotton — owes its development to this sector, whose stakeholders have been working the land since the precolonial era.

The Poro region is also known for the special features of the traditional Senufo culture and for the ingenuity of its sculptors and traditional weavers of the village of Waraniéré.
