Welcome to the website dedicated to the 20th EU NGO Forum on Human Rights
The overarching theme for this year's Forum is "Defending universality – Making Human Rights a Reality".
2018 is an important year for human rights, as we mark the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration, the 25th anniversary of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action as well as the 20th anniversary of the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders and the Rome Statute.
The aim of the forum is to identify how to increase the impact and coherence of EU external action on human rights and democracy in a more connected, contested and challenging global environment, and to discuss the way forward on how we can best achieve our objectives of promoting and protecting human rights, in conjunction with civil society.
Participants will have the chance to brainstorm on the needs for the future EU Action plan on Human rights and Democracy. The different sessions will provide a space to discuss current challenges and future solutions as well as to look forward to concrete achievements to be reflected on the 2019 Action Plan.
