SATELLITE SESSION ORGANIZERS
GHFP-II, CUGH
SATELLITE DESCRIPTION:
The recent increase in graduates from global health concentrations in Public Health and masters of Global Health programs has been well described. Currently, little research has examined whether the supply of trainees matches, exceeds, or is adequate to meet the demand for global health jobs, or if those trainees are adequately trained for subsequent jobs. The Global Health Fellows Program II (GHFP-II) and the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) recently planned and implemented a study to examine the global health workforce transition from training to initial employment.
This session will discuss the results from the GHFP-II and CUGH Recent Graduates Study. The study aimed to better understand the experiences of graduates from master's level global health programs when seeking jobs and the fit of graduate program curricula and workplace demand. Attendees can expect to leave with clearer expectations for transitioning into the global health workforce and new tools and resources to gain in-demand skills.
