Anaemia – An Age Old Problem?

On the evening of Thursday, April 30th 18:00 at the BGS Spring Meeting, you will have the chance to hear from medical pioneer Dr John Coakley Lettsom (1744-1815), brought back from the grave for one night only. Joining him on stage will be Dr Hugh McIntyre, Consultant Physician to the Conquest Hospital and Professor Peter Passmore, Lead for Dementia for The British Geriatrics Society, as they interrogate the need for better management of older people with iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) today by learning about the history of its management in the 1800s.

The symposium entitled ‘Anaemia - An Age Old Problem?’ focuses on the management and treatment of IDA, comparing the situation 200 years with today and highlighting:

  • The need for appropriate and accurate diagnosis of IDA
  • Understanding the causes of the IDA
  • The importance of keeping patients out of hospital

Come along to the Banqueting Suite B to learn more about diagnosis and management of IDA through time.

The symposium is fully sponsored by Vifor Pharma UK limited. Vifor have selected the topic and speakers and have had input into the presentation content and are fully responsible financially.
