8th International Workshop on Air Quality Forecasting Research

8th International Workshop on Air Quality Forecasting Research
and
2015 Pan American/ParaPan American Games Legacy Data Workshop

Toronto, Ontario
January 10 - 12, 2017

HOME

The purpose of the International Workshop on Air Quality Forecasting Research (IWAQFR) is to provide a forum to discuss science issues and advancements related to air quality forecasting.

Workshop objectives include improving operational air quality forecasts, promoting collaborations among air quality forecasting researchers and practitioners, and cultivating an international air quality forecasting community.

The first two days of the workshop will cover the primary themes that drive operational air quality forecasting with a special focus on research and development related to forecasting air quality in urban environments, at high spatial resolution and/or where forest fires occur at the urban interface.

This year’s workshop will also include a special one day session, surrounding the 2015 PanAm/ParaPanAm Games Legacy Dataset Release, which will examine the scientific results deriving from the intensive research campaign that took place during the Games. Thanks to a dense weather and air quality monitoring effort, this campaign offered a rare opportunity to conduct various process analyses and test process parametrizations relevant to urban environments, with significant benefits to the development and validation of high resolution and urban scale modelling systems.

The format of this three-day workshop will include presentation and poster sessions.
