CONFERENCE FEES

David C. Banks is Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education, the largest school system in the nation. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and received his Jurius Doctorate from St. John's University School of Law. Chancellor Banks is a lifelong New Yorker, born in Brooklyn, and proud graduate of New York City public schools, attending P.S. 161 in Brooklyn and Hillcrest High School in Queens. He began his first teaching job at P.S. 167 in his childhood neighborhood on Eastern Parkway. From there, he went on to become a founding principal at the Bronx School for Law, Government and Justice, and later at the Eagle Academy for Young Men, the first school in a network of innovative all-boys public schools in New York City and Newark, N.J.
Chancellor Banks lives in New York City. He has four adult children and three granddaughters.


Dr. Amy Murdoch Dr. Stephanie Stollar
Dr. Murdoch started and directs MSJ's Reading Science Graduate and doctoral programs. Before joining the MSJ faculty fourteen years ago, she worked in a large urban school district, as the director of many large grants, including the Reading First grant, and was a regional reading consultant. She is currently involved in two large research projects. One is on preschool literacy and involves the creation of a free, research-based instructional program with a large focus on lauguage and knowledge development. The second is an OSEP Model Demonstration grant that has the goal of better understanding early identification and the early support of children with dyslexia and those at risk for reading problems (preschool - grade 3).
Dr. Stollar is the founder of Stephanie Stollar Consulting LLC and the creator of The Reading Science Academy. She is also a part-time assistant professor in the online reading science program at Mount St. Joseph University, and a founding member of a national alliance for supporting reading science in higher education. As a board member for the Innovations in Education Consortium, she collaboratively plans the annual MTS Innovations in Education Conference. Dr. Stollar has worked as a school psychologist, an educational consultant, and as Vice President for Professional Learning for Acadience Learning Inc, She has provided professional development, conducted research and published in the areas of assessment, early intervention, and collaborative problem solving. She is passionate about improving educator knowledge and aligning school systems to prevent reading failure.
