Dr. Dawn DeVries
John Newton Thomas Professor of Systematic Theology

Dr. Dawn DeVries' education includes: University of Chicago Divinity School, M.A., and Ph.D., as well as The College of the University of Chicago, B.A. Her primary interests are Theology in the Reformed tradition, food and theology/spirituality, and faith and the problem of evil.

Her scholarship includes the history of doctrine and Reformed theology. She was named a Henry Luce III Fellow in Theology for 1997-1998. She was a delegate for the PC(USA) to the 8th Assembly of the World Council of Churches and for the World Alliance of Reformed Churches to the International Eastern Orthodox/Reformed Dialogue. Dr. DeVries served on the PC(USA) Special Committee on Catechism. She is translator and editor of Servant of the Word: Selected Sermons of Friedrich Schleiermacher and author of Jesus Christ in the Preaching of Calvin and Schleiermacher.
