Craig Potter, FWD

Craig joined FWD as Implementation Director 3 years ago, and has been working in the FE and Skills sector for over 10 years at senior leadership level. He has wide experience across the education sector having worked in FE Colleges, awarding organisations and independent learning providers. Craig is a board governor for an awarding organisation, is educated to Level 7 in Strategic Leadership and Management, is a qualified assessor and a Chartered Manager with the CMI.

FWD is an independent learning provider, specialising in the financial services and insurance sector. Since being established in 2015, FWD has now become one of the leading UK Apprenticeship providers in their specialist field and has over 1,200 apprentices in learning. FWD work in partnership with many global, market leading levy employers and have been instrumental in educating the sector and building their engagement with Apprenticeship programmes. This success has led to FWD being acquired in September 2019, by Davies Group, who are a multi-award-winning operations management, consulting and digital solutions provider to organisations in highly regulated markets and to global businesses. This has provided FWD with the strengthened infrastructure to continue their controlled growth, adding further value to their employers, and importantly their apprentices, to maximise the impact of their Apprenticeship experience.

In May 2018, Craig successfully led FWD through an ESFA financial assurance audit and then the following week, as nominee, in the early provider monitoring visit. FWD achieved ‘reasonable progress’ against all aspects and are now preparing for their first full inspection under the EIF with the support of their strategic adviser who is also a member of the FWD board. Over the last 6 months FWD have been embedding the EIF into their strategy and operations and Craig is looking forward to providing his insight and experiences so far in this journey.
