At a time where Quebec and Ontario carbon policies no longer align, and the federal backstop is also challenging, the 2019 Spring Seminar provides a timely platform to reflect on how the industry can influence key policy driver in Canada to prevent de-industrialization while achieving carbon reduction targets. The Opening Keynote presentation will set the scene and provide insight on how Ontario recent carbon policy will contribute to greening its economy. The first morning panel gathers industry experts who will present a market perspective of Canada’s Clean Fuel Standard followed by the second panel, where representatives of gas distribution, transmission as well as power production will discuss how Canadian utilities prepare to respond to the increasing infrastructure optimization challenges. In the afternoon, industry panelists will explore technology innovations and the role of biofuels and Hydrogen in developing new approaches to preserving competitiveness for energy-intensive industries who are trade-exposed.
Participation is by invitation only to keep the event small and conducive to a productive exchange among the key natural gas stakeholders (users, pipelines and utilities, marketers, regulators, and policy makers). Please come prepared to engage in a productive dialogue with your peers.
