Events Before/During/After the Symposium

Oakland Athletics (A’s) Major League Baseball: home games against the Kansas City Royals (Aug 1-3), against the Tampa Bay Rays (Aug. 4-6), and against the Minnesota Twins (Aug. 7-11). The games are at the Oakland Coliseum, easily reached by taking BART trains to the Coliseum station.

San Jose Earthquakes Major League Soccer (futbol): home game against the Seattle Sounders on Aug. 2 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara (brand new large stadium). Public transport from San Francisco by CalTrain, connecting to VTA light rail in Mountain View.

14th Annual Art + Soul Festival: www.artandsouloakland.com Aug. 2-3. Music, food, and art in beautiful downtown Oakland (14th and Broadway), easily reached by taking BART to the 12th Street Station. Professional and amateur barbecue competition on Aug. 2.
