His research interests include local public finance, urban transportation, and the economy of San Diego. Professor Gin will explore the economic conditions, trends and indicators that impact the transportation market. Topics will include short- and long-term economic outlook, truck freight volumes, truck supply issues, along with clear explanations on what it means to your business.

Richard Stocking, President and COO of Swift Transportation, transformed one of the nation's largest for-hire carriers during the recent economic downturn. Under his leadership, Swift emerged as a solidly performing, industry leader. He will reflect on the organizational and operational changes he orchestrated, and will share his insights on the data-driven processes that have significantly improved how Swift operates today. Mr. Stocking will share with Vision attendees his insight on the future direction of the industry.

Keynote Dinner: Billy Beane, Oakland A's General Manager and subject of Moneyball
 
Billy Beane, Oakland A's General Manager, subject of the best-selling book  and film Moneyball, and San Diego native, joins Vision 2012 to share his  insight on Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game. Beane will impart  his innovative, winning style of management and leadership based on  identifying undervalued assets to create and sustain a competitive advantage.  By striking parallels between baseball and business, Beane inspires  audiences across industries. Beane's Moneyball methodology has been  applied nationwide by top sports executives as well as CEOs. His unique  approach to strategy even crossed political boundaries when he was asked to  consult on the U.S. health care crisis for an article in the New York Times.
