Property Investor Europe Financing Awards
The Property Investor Europe Financing Awards, which will be held in November, are open to bank and non-bank lenders that have completed significant, innovative transactions on major properties or portfolios in the UK and Europe. Our awards are geared toward transactions of at least 50 million.


Bank Lender of the Year
Awarded to the commercial or investment bank that’s completed a significant volume of innovative financings on European and UK properties.

Non-Bank Lender of the Year
Awarded to the alternative lender, debt fund, finance company, insurance company or asset manager that completes a substantial volume of mezzanine, junior, and senior financing transactions on properties across Europe and the UK.

Alternative Lender of the Year
This award will go to the firm that’s been the most active and innovative in financing alternative and emerging property transactions in sectors that include hotels, student housing, healthcare and logistics throughout Europe and the UK.

Construction Lender of the Year
Awarded to the bank or non-bank lender that has financed significant ground-up development projects in all sectors, including emerging and alternative asset classes. With an emphasis on innovation in structure, location, and property usage, this award is for projects in Europe and the UK.

Regional Lending Awards
With consideration to the local nature of the commercial real estate market, we’ve broken these awards into five regions to highlight activity in Northern Europe, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Southern Europe, and the UK & Ireland. There are unique challenges in each of these regions, including responding to the position of the real estate cycle, and we will be honoring significant and innovation financing transactions on individual assets or portfolios.

Northern European Lender of the Year
Comprises: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden

Eastern European Lender of the Year
Comprises: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine and Russia

Western Europe (excluding UK & Ireland)
Comprises: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland

Southern Europe
Comprises: Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain

United Kingdom & Ireland

Finance Innovator of the Year
This award goes to the bank or non-bank lender that’s been a leader in identifying and executing financing transactions across sectors that have been bellwethers, either through innovative structures, a willingness to enter new markets or sectors, and the ability to work with a borrower re-imagine a traditional asset class. The award is based on volume, creativity, and successful execution.

Refinancing of the Year
Awarded to the bank or non-bank lender that originated an innovative financing on a prominent European or UK property or portfolio that replaced or recapitalized existing debt.

Debt Fund of the Year
Awarded to a prominent debt fund based on transaction volume, innovation, fundraising success, and performance for a total book of work across Europe and the UK.

Syndicated Lender of the Year
Awarded to a commercial or investment bank for successfully structuring and syndicating a significant financing on a European or UK property or portfolio. The award will be based on ease of execution, participation of other lenders, and innovations in structures.

Servicer of the Year
Awarded to the commercial mortgage servicer that best oversees performing and non-performing commercial and residential loan portfolios across Europe and the UK. Consideration will be given to portfolio size, innovative use of technology, and restructuring and work outs.

Advisor of the Year
Awarded to non-bank firms for advising companies on debt sourcing, arranging and restructuring. Based on the total volume the company has been advising on across Europe in the past year.

REIT Finance Team of the Year
This award goes to the real estate investment trust that’s demonstrated an innovative and successful financing strategy for an individual property or overall portfolio. Consideration will be given to the REIT’s ability to reduce overall LTV, refinance maturing or existing debt, and increase returns for investors.  

Non-REIT Finance Team of the Year
This award goes to the fund manager or real estate investment management company that’s demonstrated an innovative and successful financing strategy for an individual property or overall portfolio. Consideration will be given to the ability to reduce overall LTV, refinance maturing or existing debt, and increasing returns for investors. 

Debt Investor of the Year
Awarded to the private equity fund, investment manager, insurance company, or bank that’s been a major buyer of UK and European debt over the past 12 months. Consideration will also be given to innovation and long-term strategy.

Loan Seller of the Year
Awarded to a bank or non-bank seller on the basis of volume of UK or European debt sold over the past 12 months, the success of the strategy and how the sale has improved the company’s balance sheet.

Debt Capital Market Team of the Year
Awarded to the debt capital market team of a commercial or investment bank for helping a real estate company successfully raise debt on the capital markets in the last 12 months. Based on transaction volume generated in the past year. 

Outstanding Contributor
Awarded to an individual at a bank or non-bank lenders that’s made an outstanding contribution to property financing this year by showing leadership on major transactions and projects in the UK and Europe.

Rising Star
Award for a personality (under 40) who has been playing an increasing role in property financing at a bank, alternative lender or institutional investor.

Lifetime Achievement
Award for a personality who has made an outstanding contribution to property financing throughout his/her career at a bank, alternative lender or institutional investor.

Industry Advocate
Award for a personality who supports the industry and works with a range of stakeholders to strengthen the effectiveness of real estate lending. The award will go to a personality, who has been helping revise the property finance guidelines and improve transparency, at a European or global professional body or non-profit research and education organisation.
