Entry Criteria

When entering the 2017 Awards, please read through the following criteria for your chosen category(ies), which explain what the judging panel will be looking for when they consider the entries and select the final winners. 

The awards will be publicized internationally in the general and specialist fund media.

All finalists will be honored and the winners announced at the ceremony on Wednesday November 15, 2017.


Top Consultant

This category is designed to reward consultants that have demonstrated acute understanding of their clients’ needs over the course of the last 12 months. Two awards will be handed out by two separate panels of foundation and endowment judges; one comprised of representatives of FEs with over $1bn in assets, and another comprised of FEs with under $1bn in assets.

Most Innovative Manager

This category is designed to reward managers that have shown growth and innovation over the course of the last 12 months in serving the needs of foundations and endowments. Two awards will be handed out by two separate panels of FE judges; one comprised of representatives of FEs with over $1bn in assets, and another comprised of FEs with under $1bn in assets.

Top ESG Manager

This category is designed to reward managers that have assisted their foundation and endowment clients in meeting their ESG goals. Two awards will be handed out by two separate panels of FE judges; one comprised of representatives of FEs with over $1bn in assets, and another comprised of FEs with under $1bn in assets.

Top Equities Manager

This category is designed to reward managers that have helped foundations and endowments navigate domestic and international equity markets. Two awards will be handed out by two separate panels of FE judges; one comprised of representatives of FEs with over $1bn in assets, and another comprised of FEs with under $1bn in assets.

Top Fixed-Income Manager

This category is designed to reward managers that have helped foundations and endowments navigate fixed-income markets. Two awards will be handed out by two separate panels of FE judges; one comprised of representatives of FEs with over $1bn in assets, and another comprised of FEs with under $1bn in assets.

Top Hedge Fund Manager

This category is designed to reward managers that have demonstrated growth and innovation in the hedge fund space over the past one year as judged by foundation and endowment clients Two awards will be handed out by two separate panels of FE judges: The first, will be comprised of representatives of FEs with over $1bn in assets that will reward the best hedge fund manager. The second panel will be comprised of FEs with under $1bn in assets that will reward the best fund of hedge funds manager.

Top Private Equity Fund Manager

This category is designed to reward managers that have demonstrated growth and innovation in the private equity space over the past 12 months as judged by foundation and endowment clients Two awards will be handed out by two separate panels of FE judges: The first, will be comprised of representatives of FEs with over $1bn in assets that will reward the best private equity manager. The second panel will be comprised of FEs with under $1bn in assets that will reward the best fund of funds manager.

Top Real Asset Manager

This award is designed to reward managers in the burgeoning real assets space. Success in this category depends on a mixture of meeting client demands and demonstrated new thinking over the past one year. A single panel of foundation and endowment representatives will recognize the top real asset manager.

Most Mandates Won in Prior Year (FundMap)

This category is not open for entries. The winner will be nominated by judges and honoured for having won the most mandates over the last year as tracked by Foundation & Endowment Report’s sister dataservice FundMAP. Two awards will be handed: One for managers winning the most mandates coming from foundations and endowments with over $1bn in assets and one for managers winning the most mandates coming from FEs with under $1bn in assets.

Top OCIO provider

This category is designed to reward OCIO services providers that have demonstrated acute understanding of meeting their clients’ needs over the course of the past 12 months. One award will be handed out by a single panel of foundation and endowment representatives.

Fund Marketer of the Year

This category is designed to recognized the top fund marketer of the year as judged by a panel of foundations and endowments, as well as members of Foundation & Endowment Report’s editorial staff.
