Jay Abiona

Jay has been conducting security consultations, private and criminal investigations as well as personal protection since 1994.  He has conducted countless thorough internal theft investigations and has completed over 5,000 interviews and interrogations in his career as an investigator with an unprecedented success rate in obtained admissions. His knowledge and experiences have assisted numerous investigators and corporate personal in becoming successful interviewers.  He has presented this topic for a variety of Fortune 100 companies throughout the country and was a guest speaker for the IIA Houston Chapter, Association for Certified Fraud Examiners, Texas Association of Licensed Investigators, and the University of Houston.  He has also conducted numerous job interviews for corporations to help hire the most honest candidates.

 
Geoffrey Banez

Geoffrey has more than 15 years of combined experience in industry and public accounting, including more than five years with Big Four firms.  His career focus includes IT-related internal audit and risk assessment services, as well as System and Organization Controls (SOC) audits, IT controls reviews, and SOX compliance and readiness.  Along with managing audit and risk management engagements from start to finish, Geoffrey ensures quality in documentation by keeping up to date with regulatory standards and manages consulting engagements to assess whether client-implemented systems meet regulatory requirements.  Geoffrey is a CIA and CISA, and earned a BBA in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas.

 
Christine Chaney

Christine is responsible for developing and implementing the Company’s global compliance and anti-corruption programs.  She has 15 years of experience in compliance and investigating fraud.  Prior to joining Superior in 2012, Christine was the Director of IT Compliance at United Airlines and oversaw data privacy, SOX, and IT compliance.  She also was the Director of Compliance for Continental Airlines and implemented its global compliance program.  Christine has a Master of Science in Technology, with a minor in Internal Audit and Business Administration degree from LSU.

Steve has over 30 years of experience providing advisory services to clients in the energy industry.  He currently serves as KPMG’s Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk practice leader in Texas as well as the U.S. lead for ESG Internal Audit Services.  He has a degree in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.  Steve is a CPA and received an Executive Certificate in Advancing Sustainability from the NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business.  He is on the Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart Association’s Paul “Bear” Bryant Award given annually to the college football coach of the year.

Amy is a leader in risk assessment capabilities, bringing more than 13 years of experience in risk management transformation and risk excellence (coordinated assurance).  This includes facilitation of workshops, identifying opportunities for modernization, and enhancing end to end risk management programs.  Amy assists clients in risk management transformation and modernization, specializing in risk management activities for a variety of clients, which includes risk monitoring enhancements, organizational risk alignment activities, and implementing technology solutions to enable more efficient capabilities.  Amy is a CISA and Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

 
Greg Haberer

Greg has extensive technology enablement solution delivery experience.  He focuses on enhancing risk and compliance operations by assessing process and technology maturity and implementing data and process orchestration solutions that drive efficiency and effectiveness with automation and analytics.  Greg assists his clients in understanding the value case behind potential technology enablement options and oversees successful implementation of selected options.  He has co-led the development of cta.x, Grant Thornton’s patented, cloud-enabled automated control testing platform.  Greg received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Grainger College of Engineering.  He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), certified Scrummaster, and has a certificate in data science from Microsoft. 

 
Jordan Hackney

Jordan specializes in information technology risk consulting and internal audit engagements.  He focuses on IT operational audits, IT risks and controls, SOX 404 compliance, and risks stemming from security and privacy concerns.  Jordan has over ten years of experience in the IT audit and cybersecurity fields and has led numerous engagements focused on IT vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security program maturity assessments.  As a former PCI QSA, he has audited large credit card environments and managed remediation efforts to assist clients in achieving compliance with security requirements.  As an IT auditor, Jordan has reviewed a variety of IT areas inclusive of system privilege management/ segregation of duties, cloud governance, IT operations, service delivery, and change management. He earned a BBA in Accounting and a MS in Management Information Systems from a Texas A&M, is a CPA, and holds the CISA and PMP certifications.

 
Dr. Nathaniel Hearne

Dr. Nathanial Hearne is an educator, coach, mentor, and author.  As a coach he played an important part in the lives of those football players who the film “Friday Night Lights” was about.  The Permian High School football team became State and National Champions in 1989 and State Champs in 1991, and they were named the team of the Decade in 1989.  Dr. Hearne served as a North All-Star Coach in 1988, and the Texas School Business magazine recognized his Dropout Prevention Program as the best prevention program in the state.  In addition, Dr. Hearne was twice selected as the Administrator of the year.

In his book Friday Night Lights: Untold Stories from Behind the Lights he shares a unique perspective on the happenings while at Permian that have contributed to his focus on character development and leadership training. Dr. Hearne will inspire you to take account for the legacy you leave behind.

 
Alafair Hotze

Alafair has more than 15 years of experience that includes extensive team leadership and cross functional management that she gained by leading in-house and third party outsource/co-source internal audit and SOX compliance teams, global financial reporting teams, fraud risk assessment teams, and systems implementation project teams. She has served in progressive roles in audit, financial reporting, investor relations, and process risk and controls advisory. Her experiences in various internal control environments and natural business process skills result in business process improvements across client organizations. Alafair currently serves private and public clients in the upstream, midstream, chemicals, oilfield services, and power generation industries. She holds an MBA from Rice University and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Texas. She is a CFE and serves on the ACFE Houston Chapter board of directors.

Scott has over 20 years of global experience in the areas of audit, risk, and compliance. Beginning his career at Arthur Andersen, Scott transitioned to internal audit with Fox Entertainment & News Corporation and then spent several years at Rovi Corporation, where he helped lead operational and IT audits, SOX compliance, consulted on business process improvements, and participated in multiple ERP implementations and M&A activities. Prior to joining AuditBoard, Scott was the Chief Audit Executive at Mobilitie, where he built the internal audit function from the ground up to a six-person department focusing on agile audits, SOX readiness, risk management, and cyber and IT security compliance.

 
Angela Morelock

Angela has nearly 30 years of experience and is the managing partner of six of BKD’s national consulting divisions. Angela spent 25 years as the leader of BKD’s national forensic accounting and investigations team, where she provided fraud investigation and prevention services, complex litigation support and forensic accounting services.  Angela and her team have investigated some of the largest fraud cases in the U.S. Her clients include the FBI, U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney’s Office. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Missouri State University, Springfield, with a B.S. degree in Accounting and is a CPA, CFE, CFF (Certified in Financial Forensics), and ABV (Accredited in Business Valuation).

 
Paul Pettit

Paul is a management consultant with over 30 years of progressive roles within industry and professional services where he has managed and delivered successful audit and consulting projects to clients across a multitude of industries.  At Revenew, Paul oversees business development and account management for clients seeking cost recovery, cost containment and performance improvements both with their vendors, suppliers and contactors as well as within their operations.  Since 1999, Paul has been involved in providing consulting and internal audit services within technical areas of organizations including engineering, procurement and construction.  He also worked for over nine years in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction industry with KBR.  Paul holds Masters degrees in Business and Environmental Management as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Houston.  He is certified as a CIA, CRMA, PMP, Construction Controls Professional, Construction Auditor (CCA), and Professional EH&S Auditor.

Jay authored an article for the IIA International Magazine titled “Auditor or Adviser” and has been a guest on an Audit Podcast.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and is a CIA, CCSA, and CFE.

Casey is the Director of Permanent Placement services for Robert Half’s finance and accounting practice, the world’s first and largest talent solutions firm, out of the Houston office.  She joined Robert Half in 2014 as a Recruiting Manager and has held various leadership roles since that time.  Casey has a background in public accounting as an auditor where she provided audit and attestation services for various industries including financial institutions, manufacturing, services, and non-profits.

 
John Sileo

Sue Ulrey

Sue is responsible for supporting the firm's risk advisory services, specifically focusing on serving the financial services and healthcare markets.  She also oversees client service delivery and business and people development efforts, drawing on her more than 20 years of experience in internal audit, ERM, and external quality assurance reviews, and contract and regulatory compliance, HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOX compliance.  Sue is currently the Chair of The IIA’s Exam Development Committee and serves as a member of The IIA’s Global Nominating Committee and North American Nominating Committee.  Sue is a licensed Chartered Accountant, CFE, CIA, and holds the credentials of CRMA, CRISC, and QIAL.

 
John Warren

John is responsible for providing guidance, oversight and direction to ACFE management and staff on all legal issues that affect the ACFE.  He is also an advisory member of the ACFE Board of Regents and sits on the Board of Directors of the ACFE Foundation.  John is a co-author of the Report to the Nations, ACFE’s biennial study on the costs and effects of occupational fraud, and he serves as an advisor to the research committee of the ACFE Research Institute.  John is a licensed attorney and a CFE.

 
Charlie Wright

Charlie leads the 17-member Global Board of The IIA, is chair of the Supervisory Committee, and presides over Global Assembly. Charlie is an experienced Chief Audit Executive with more than 35 years of corporate experience in the airline, energy, and financial services industries. He has been in the internal audit profession for more than 19 years. 

Before becoming the Global Chairman, Charlie’s volunteer roles at The IIA included Senior Vice Chair, Vice Chair of Finance and of Professional Guidance, Chair of the North America Advocacy Committee, Chair of the Global Committee Task Force, and member of the Three Lines Model task force. Charlie is also a former editor of the Risk Watch column in the Internal Auditor magazine and a speaker and presenter at many IIA and other conferences.

For his Chairman’s theme, Charlie focuses on how internal audit can prepare for the future, as advances in technology create opportunities and challenges for the profession. His presentation, “Future Ready”, explores the transformative nature of technology, how internal auditors must up-skill to become tech-savvy, and how they can create efficiencies in their work and in their organizations.

Charlie knows technology. As the Chief Risk Officer for Jack Henry & Associates, a technology services provider, he oversees the internal audit function as well as information security, enterprise risk management, occupational risk management, regulatory and compliance, third-party risks, and enterprise continuity. He strong believes that, in today’s world, knowledge and use of technology should be baseline requirements for all internal auditors.

Charlie is also active in several other volunteer roles. He is chairman of the board of Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma and recently completed a six-year term as chairman of the Risk Management Committee for the Last Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Charlie is a co-founder and board member of Connexion, a company that funds small business in international locations to employer local people and create self-sustaining employment. Charlie has also served as chairman of the American Petroleum Institute’s Audit Sub-Committee and chairman of the Airline Transportation Association Internal Audit Committee.

Charlie is a CIA, CPA, and CISA.  He received Batchelor degrees in Accounting and Computer Science from Oklahoma State University and an MBA from the University of Tulsa.

 
Wendell York

Wendell is responsible for leading the due diligence and financial analysis related to strategic business initiatives.  He joined Superior in 2017 as the Vice President, Internal Audit.  He has over 10 years of experience leading Internal Audit functions having previously been the Director of Internal Audit at Westlake Chemical and Rowan Companies.  Wendell has been involved in a number of fraud investigations and the development of corrective actions stemming from these cases.  He has MBA and BS degrees from LSU and is a CIA and CRMA.
