Social Capital and Wealth Accumulation
September 21, 2012 9:30 am - 10:45 am
Room: Washington 1
Social capital plays an important role in wealth accumulation and community development. Social capital recognizes the expertise of families and individuals, and the importance of social networks, to find their own paths out of poverty. Asset-building organizations are increasingly acting as catalysts to leverage these social networks to derive tangible socio-economic benefits for families and individuals through social capital initiatives. This session will shed light on the effectiveness of social capital and will highlight innovative strategies and tools Boston Rising and Family Independence Initiative have developed to capture the benefits of social capital.
