Revitalizing Low-Income Neighborhoods Through Investment in Small Business and Entrepreneurs
September 20, 2012 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm
Room: Maryland A
Investing in entrepreneurship is a proven strategy for rebuilding communities, particularly during economic downturns. Small businesses create three million new jobs in a year on average and account for one-third of the annual job creation rate. These findings show both the sheer number of new businesses entering the economy each year and their conspicuous impact on job creation. In this session, participants will hear economist, financial institution and nonprofit perspectives on the need for entrepreneurship development and leave the session with effective, actionable strategies to support small business in sparking economic growth and asset building in local communities.
