Assets & Opportunity Award Plenary
September 20, 2012 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Every two years at the Assets Learning Conference, CFED bestows the Assets and Opportunity Award to an individual or organization that has significantly advanced the asset-building field in the United States. We are honored to begin this year’s Award Plenary with Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services, Bill Corr, who has been invited to share his perspectives on the past, present and future of the asset-building field. Former Mayor of Nashville and CFED Board member Bill Purcell will present this year’s award to Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE), the nation’s first coalition of local governments dedicated to advancing financial empowerment. We will premier a special video produced especially for the Conference that will highlight the impact the 12 CFE member cities have had over the last several years. CFE co-chairs Jonathan Mintz, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, and Jose Cisneros, Treasurer for the City and County of San Francisco, will accept the award on behalf of CFE. The plenary will end with a keynote address by Newark Mayor and CFE member Cory Booker.
