Entry rules for CTA Intelligence US Performance Awards 2016

1. Inclusion:

  • Only CTAs with their management/advisory company or team based in the USA or Canada will be eligible for the CTA Intelligence Performance Awards 2016

  • The Entry Form link will be sent to all managers and contacts on the CTA Intelligence database. Other interested managers can access the online entry form here.
  • CTAs interested in participating in the awards program must submit all information via the official CTA Intelligence Performance Awards 2016 online entry system.
  • The awards will be publicised internationally in the general and CTA media. All awards finalists will be honoured—and the winners announced at a dinner on Thursday, February 25 at 583 Park Avenue, New York. Please mark this very important date on your calendar.

All winners will also be invited to be interviewed by CTA Intelligence.

The deadline for inclusion is Friday, December 18.

2. Criteria:

The Awards 2016 seek submissions in the following categories:

Best diversified CTA under $500m

Best diversified CTA over $500m

Best specialised CTA

Best CTA long term performance under $500m (5 years)

Best CTA long term performance over $500m (5 years)

Best emerging CTA (12-36 months)

Best newcomer CTA (<12 months)

Best risk adjusted returns under $500m (3 years)

Best risk adjusted returns over $500m (3 years)

Best managed futures mutual fund

Best options strategy

Best currency strategy

Best ag strategy

Best discretionary manager

Best trend-follower over $500m

Best trend-follower under $500m

Best short-term trader over $250m

Best short-term trader under $250m

Best investable CTA index

Best multi-manager fund

Best innovative fee product

CTA management firm of the year (Nominated)

Outstanding contribution (Nominated)

Any CTA satisfying the following criteria will be eligible for the CTA Intelligence Performance Awards 2016:

Base of operations:

  • CTAs submitting in all categories must have their management/advisory company or team based in USA or Canada and submit their USD share class.

Strategy/Program:

  • CTAs submitting for any of the categories with the exception of categories 5 and 6 (emerging CTA and newcomer CTA) must trade/invest primarily - defined as at least 75% of portfolio over the last three years in one or more of the 23 strategies/programs described by the categories above.
  • CTAs submitting for category 5 and 6 (emerging CTA and newcomer CTA) must trade/invest primarily—defined as at least 75% of portfolio over the last 12-35 months in one of the 22 strategies as described by the categories above.

Assets Under Management:

  • CTAs submitting for any of the categories (apart from 5 and 6) must have a minimum of 10 million (USD) in assets under management ending September 2015.
  • CTAs submitting for category 5 (emerging CTA) must have a minimum of 5 million (USD) in assets under management ending September 2015.
  • CTAs submitting for category 6 (newcomer CTA) must have a minimum of 1 million (USD) in assets under management ending Septembe 2015.

Please submit the USD share class for the awards.

Track Record:

  • CTAs submitting for any of the categories except categories 3, 4, 5 and 6 (best CTA long term performance - 5 years, emerging CTA and newcomer CTA) must have a track record of 3 years ending with their September 2015 performance figures.
  • CTAs submitting for categories 5 and 6 (long term performance – 5 years) must have a track record of 5 years ending with their September 2015 performance figures.
  • CTAs submitting for category 6 (emerging CTA) must have a track record of 12 to 35 months of performance data ending with their September 2015 performance.
  • CTAs submitting for category 5 (newcomer CTA) must have a track record of 6 - 12 months of performance data ending with their September 2015 performance.

3. Judging Decisions:

The judging panel will comprise representatives from CTA Intelligence, leading institutional, private investors and industry experts.

Each member of the judging panel will have an equal vote in choosing the winners in each category. Decisions should be unanimous, but a majority will suffice.

Judging decisions will be based on performance, qualitative information and structural criteria.

A shortlist of finalists for each category will be announced in December with the winners revealed on February 25, 2016 at 583 Park Avenue, New York. Please mark this important date on your calendar.
