CHRIS DAVIS AM FELLOWSHIP 2024

The Chris Davis AM Fellowship is to be awarded to an individual that is leading a project, initiative or research activity that will contribute to sustainable water management in Australia. AWA is very keen to support individuals that embody what Chris Davis AM valued and championed in making an impact. The AWA wants to create leaders through the Fellowship.

The Fellowship criteria for eligibility will be based on the values of Chris Davis AM and his ability to share knowledge and leave a legacy of success. The individual will be an aspiring leader who is passionate, professional, visionary, and leading a project, initiative or activity that has the potential to transform sustainable water management in Australia.

This award is open to any member of the Australian Water Association.

Submission Criteria for this award:

Academic or background credentials (up to 500 words)

  • Outline any educational background, including relevant degrees and certifications in fields: water conservation, water quality or related areas.
  • Highlight any research or practical experience gained in sustainable water management.
  • Showcase any publications, presentations, or projects undertaken in the field of sustainable water management.

Commitment and Sustainability experience (up to 500 words)

  • Demonstrate experience or commitment in sustainable practices or initiatives.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the principles and concepts of sustainable water management.
  • Demonstrate long-term goals and how the fellowship will contribute to professional development in sustainable water management.
  • Involvement in any environmental organisations, community outreach programs, or advocacy activities related to water conservation and sustainability.

Leadership (up to 500 words)

  • Demonstrate how your values align with the values of Chris Davis AM i.e. share, leave a legacy, give back for the greater good.
  • Provide examples of projects or initiatives you have led or been involved in, that showcase leadership skills.
  • Highlight any teamwork experiences, demonstrating ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders such as government agencies, community organisations, or academic institutions.

Research and Innovation (up to 500 words)

  • Describe any research conducted or plan to undertake in the field of sustainable water management.
  • Highlight any innovative ideas or approaches developed to address water-related challenges, such as new technologies, policy frameworks, or community engagement strategies.

Communication and Advocacy (up to 500 words)

  • Highlight communication skills, including ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Discuss experience in advocacy or public outreach related to sustainable water management, such as conducting educational workshops, writing articles, or giving presentations.

Clearly address how the funds will be used and how the project/opportunity will be shared with Australian Water Sector (up to 250 words)

For example, the funding can be used for travel to learn best practice from other projects domestically or overseas, community engagement activities, advocacy, presenting the outcomes at an international conference and other expenses that will progress the outcomes of their project or initiative.
