The National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization is seeking workshop proposals for the 2025 NAITCO Conference "Lakes, Land and Legends" scheduled for June 23-June 26, 2025 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Proposals must describe how the workshop uses agricultural concepts to meet the National Agricultural Literacy Outcomes (NALOs) and teach reading, writing, math, nutrition, science, STEM, social studies, and additional academic areas. Proposals must reach elementary (grades Pre-K-5), middle school (grades 6-8), high school (9-12) or all grades.
Workshops style options are defined as Full or Mini.
- Full workshops will last one hour.
- Mini workshops will last 20 minutes and will be repeated 2 times with a 10-minute break in between.
Because the conference will be held in the Central Region, please consider workshops focused on:
- Exploring life science using agricultural plants, animals, and insects (corn, soybeans, sugarbeets, fruits, veggies, wild rice, maple syrup, pigs, beef cattle, dairy cattle, chickens, turkeys, bees, pollinators)
- Investigating earth and environmental science through natural resource conservation (soil health, water quality, etc.) on farms and agricultural sites.
- Developing reading, writing, speaking, and listening (Language Arts) skills with agriculture-themed books, videos, field trips, and agriculture themed events.
- Digging into student growing experiences (school gardens, hydroponics, aquaponics, etc.) with cross-curricular applications (science, social studies, STEM, language arts, health/nutrition).
- Exploring culture, history and geography using food and agriculture.
In order to complete the workshop submission process, you will need:
- A brief presenter/co-presenter(s) biography (50 words or less) describing their background and experience teaching in the agricultural literacy field.
- A presenter/co-presenter(s) headshot.
- A workshop description (200 words or less) which will be used on the website, conference registration and conference schedule. We encourage you to choose a descriptive, catchy title.
Please also keep in mind there will roughly 10 minutes to set up before and after to clean up your workshop supplies/material to stay aligned with the schedule.
The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2024.
Please be aware once proposals are submitted an editing feature is not accessible. If a proposal has not yet been completed and is in the "incomplete" status a self-editing feature is still accessible.
Presenters will be notified by January 1st the status of their submission.
** Please note a profile needs to be created to submit a workshop proposal. If you submitted a workshop for the 2024 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference, you will need to create a new profile (you can not use last year's account info) to login to submit for the 2025 conference.
Go to "login" at the top of the screen to begin!
