Welcome to the HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award Call for Submission Site


The HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award aims to identify and recognise organisations within Europe that effectively use information technology to successfully improve quality of health and care as well as patient safety. During the ceremony, which will take place as part of the HIMSS Europe & Health 2.0 Conference 2020 in Helsinki, Finland, 7.-9.9.2020, HIMSS and Elsevier will jointly be announcing this year's award winners and finalists (this ceremony is closed and by invitation only). This year, the HIMSS-Elsevier Awards team are seeking to recognise professionals in two categories:

 

Outstanding ICT Achievement Award

  1. To recognize outstanding achievement in harnessing ICT to provide significant improvement to patient care and safety.

  2. The ICT solution adopted may not be new but it has been effectively used by the awarded hospitals to significantly improve patient care and outcome and/or address major challenges faced by the hospitals.

  3. Other limiting factors like the hospital financial background, the niche community that the hospital is serving, the long-standing problem that the target population is facing et cetera will also be taken into consideration.

 
General Judging Criteria 
  • Provides improvement to patient care and safety
  • Provide evidence of local problems being addressed and intended improvement made
  • Level of detail in problem intervention's SOP structure
  • Level of ease in replicating problem intervention
  • Indication of main factors that contributed to the choice of the specific intervention
  • Level of details in describing the actual course of the intervention
  • Measurable Outcome/Value tied with intended benefits

Bonus marks for evidence of other desirable attributes not stated above


Outstanding ICT Innovations Award

  1. To recognize the most innovative, creative and "out-of-the-box" ICT solutions used to improve patient care and safety.

  2. Innovation can be in the form of leveraging on existing technology to come up with new and creative usage of ICT to significantly enhance patient care and outcome OR developing a ground-breaking technology that leads the way in ICT adoption.

 
General Judging Criteria
  • Employes originality, creativity and innovativeness in the project 
  • Signs of improvement to current HIT system or introduction of new HIT system
  • New improvement to HIT system are in an affordable, replicable and sustainable manner
  • Provides working prototype and evidences of testing and deployment
  • Provides fundamental change in work processes and ultimately improve the care of patients
  • Displays information on investment and downtimes required for the implementation
  • Demonstrates successful adoption of the new system

*This Award is open to all hospitals and healthcare providers based in Europe.

*The Award is not open to vendors or industry suppliers.
