The Aviary boasts Perth's largest rooftop space, the Nest, offering a spectacular bird's eye view of Perth's CBD beautiful skyline. Join us for a memorable evening at the Nest incorporating the 2015 APSAD Awards for Excellence in Science, Research and Practice which will be the highlight of the conference, sponsored by the APSAD Conference.
A small payment of $33 will secure your place at the must attend event of APSAD, where you will be served substantial canapés and a cash bar will be operating to purchase your beverages.
The Annual APSAD Awards for Excellence in Science, Research and Practice
The awards are designed to provide peer recognition for those working in the drug and alcohol field in Australasia.
APSAD offers five Awards for Excellence in Science, Research and Practice;
- Early Career Award – for excellence in research and practice relative to career opportunities.
- Senior Scientist Award – for a scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of substance use and misuse.
- First Peoples Award – for an individual that has made an important contribution to the advancement of the health of Aboriginal, Islander or Māori people.
- Clinician Award – for an individual in a substantiative (50% or more) position providing direct delivery of clinical services, or operating in a strategic managerial position directly relating to service provision.
- Mentor Award – details to be released shortly
All five Awards reflect excellence in the application of theory and knowledge to any aspect of drug and alcohol use or misuse.
The Awards are designed to:
- Acknowledge significant contributions to AOD science and practice
- Recognise and support young scientists with exceptional potential
- Provide role models for the future generations of Australian AOD scientists and clinicians.
The winners of the Senior Scientist, First Peoples, Mentor and Clinician Awards will be announced at on the evening where all four Awards will be presented by incoming APSAD President Dr Lynda Berends.
