About the Event: A Better Way Forward for F2F Fundraising

Due to increasing attrition, decreasing numbers, and increasing costs there is consistent feedback from respected members of the not-for-profit sector, that face to face fundraising in Australia is in danger of becoming unviable within the foreseeable future.

Facing this possibility and recognising the critical contribution of face-to-face fundraising to charity income, Fundraising Partners decided that allowing face-to-face fundraising to continue to decline in quality and in results was not an acceptable option.

The Irregular Giving Project was launched to investigate whether things were as bad as they seemed, why this was and, most importantly, how we can do better and ensure the long-term viability of this essential form of fundraising.

This session will address some of the key recommendations made as a result of the Irregular Giving Project investigation. It will reflect on the issues that have been identified by more than 150 people in our sector. It will show that change is possible. It will show that when done well, face-to-face and telemarketing fundraising programs can still be the cornerstone of high-quality regular giving fundraising.

Come and learn more about the Irregular Giving Project and what you can do to ensure your organisations programs stay viable.

Key discussion/learning points will be:
  • Outsourcing supplier management (due diligence and other legal stuff)
  • Relationship management of suppliers (how to build a good working relationship)
  • How to deliver the most effective training to your outsourced F2F and TM teams

Mark Anscombe

World Wide Fund for Nature Australia (WWF)
Mark Anscombe (WWF) has been Face-to-Face Fundraising Manager at WWF for the last 6 years, where he is responsible for the full end-to-end donor acquisition program. Having managed the recruitment of over 50,000 regular givers, he has a series of unique perspectives on what he calls “fundraiser-centric” approaches, whereby the fundraisers connection and development is the focus of attention. Mark has personally signed up over 500 donors in the field in the UK and Australia, and even made sign-ups while on secondments in Thailand and Greece! Mark was the recipient of the Hero Skillshare Speaker Award for his inspiring sessions at WWF’s Global Development Centre Face to Face Conference. In addition to working for WWF, he also co-chairs the F2F User Group, works closely with the PFRA, manages their LinkedIn group, and promotes a free mystery shopper scheme.
