This session will provide an overview of what is included and not included in a corporate compliance program from both a Sarbannes-Oxley regulatory approach including the requirements in the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines (2011 revisions). •    How accurate is the data you are using to run your retail operation?
•    How accurate is the benchmark data you’re using from the ASR, MSR, and Critical Factors?
•    How accurate is the information we’re reporting to the public?

Adding more retail stores is a common strategy to grow the DGR business, but it is not the only way.  In fact, if you don’t have enough donations to support adding new stores, you may end up hurting your results by spreading too few donations over a more expensive store base.  This session will focus on a holistic approach to DGR growth, by discussing topics including:  growing same-store sales, adding proven new goods categories to your assortment, ramping up your e-commerce program, home pickup programs, and donation partnerships and drives.  Combined, these strategies can significantly increase DGR revenue without adding more real estate.  As a result of this session, participants will: learn how proven new goods programs can enhance the mix of donations in your stores; understand how e-commerce can gain incremental sales on categories such as collectibles, books, and jewelry; see examples of how home pickups and other donation strategies can increase donations and revenue; and understand donation levels needed to support new store expansion.

In today’s marketplace, data is growing at an exponential pace and available in many of the daily interactions we have with our shoppers, donors, and persons we serve.  This workshop will remove the veil from the concept of Big Data by highlighting common uses in today’s business climate as well as introducing ways Goodwill is and will be applying Big Data in the future.

Join us as industry experts and Goodwill leaders share the opportunities good data can present and the pitfalls that bad data can create.  Hear how Big Data is shaping today’s business strategy and see how Big Data is providing strategic insights into Goodwill’s location analytics.

Participants in this workshop will receive an introduction to the topic of Big Data; learn how it supports business intelligence and tactical business decision-making; and discover how it can guide better engagement with and marketing to Goodwill customers.
