New SPE Conference to Focus on
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Explore best practices in product development
SPE is pleased to announce the launch of a new conference—Design in Plastics 2016—at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, June 20-22. A Welcome Reception will take place Monday evening, June 20 from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the Grand Ballroom at RISD. All registrants are welcome to attend.
This event will focus on the challenges and rewards of communication and collaboration between design, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and R&D in the product development process. It will examine best practices as well as pitfalls, through the eyes of leading practitioners of all these disciplines. We'll also look at emerging materials and process technologies (sustainability, 3D printing, advanced composites) and assess how they might impact tomorrow's products.
We can accommodate about 200 participants, and our target audience is a cross-section of today's product development supply chain, including brand owners, corporate and consultant industrial designers, various types of engineers, materials and tooling suppliers, and design and polymer educators and students.
A broad range of sponsorship opportunities are available allowing you to promote your business at this exciting new event. The Industrial Designers Society of America, the Design Management Institute and Design x Rhode Island have all pledged their support for this conference. I'm delighted that medical products development firm Ximedica is sponsoring and hosting an evening reception June 21 at its headquarters in Providence.
Conference registration fees are:
$395 per person for SPE members
$595 for nonmembers
$195 for students & educators
