Objective and Scope
With the current widespread focus on reducing carbon emissions from aviation fuels, there is a greater global interest in the ASTM standards development process. This is especially true in Asia, where pending environmental mandates for increased use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) have given new urgency to the development of sustainable fuels, along with the specifications that control and define those fuels.
This seminar will provide an opportunity to communicate and describe some of the unique approaches developed for evaluation and specification development for aviation fuels. The seminar will also seek to identify areas of coordination and collaboration on research initiatives and policy development with the shared goal of mitigating the climate and environmental impact of aviation.
Key topics that will be addressed include:
- ASTM standards and their role in controlling aviation fuel supply
- How ASTM enables the market entry of sustainable jet fuels
- Sustainability policies and objectives that drive the demand for sustainable jet fuels
- ASTM standards utilized to evaluate, qualify, and control synthetic jet fuels.
- The critical technical aspects of synthetic jet fuels from the perspective of the engine and aircraft manufacturers.
Who Should Attend
This seminar will be of interest to jet fuel producers, laboratories that test jet fuel, airlines, aircraft and aircraft equipment manufacturers, civil aviation authorities and regulators, as well as academia and research institutions.
The seminar will be conducted in English, with simultaneous Japanese interpretation available.

The seminar will be held at the Hilton Tokyo Hotel, 160-0023, Shinjuku-Ku 6-6-2 Nishi-Shinjuku Japan.
ASTM has reserved a block of sleeping rooms at the Hilton Tokyo for February 13, 2027 through February 20, 2027. The ASTM rate is ¥45,426 and includes a 13.00% service charge per stay, but excludes taxes and government charges. Reservations must be made no later than January 30, 2027, in order to be eligible for the discounted rate.

Continuing Education Credit
Seminar attendees may obtain 15 hours in continuing education credit. Participants must be registred and attend the entire seminar in order to be eligable for the credit. To obtain a cerificate awarding the credit hours, registrants must complete the Continuing Education Credit Request form found in the back of the program booklet and email it to ASTM Symposia Operations at symposia@astm.org. A certificate will be sent to you via email approximately 1 to 2 weeks after the seminar concludes.
