A Two-Part Program for Family Business Leaders

Family enterprises succeed because families learn how to work well across generations, roles, and ownership responsibilities. This two-session program introduces Family Enterprise Fundamentals, a practical and proven foundation for leading at the intersection of family, ownership, and business.

Across two highly interactive 90-minute sessions, participants explore the essential frameworks and conversations that help family firms align, make better decisions, and sustain both business performance and family relationships over time.

Session One: Understanding the System
The program begins by grounding leaders in the Three-Circle Model of Family Enterprise, a simple but powerful framework for understanding how family, ownership, and management roles overlap and why tensions often arise. Participants gain clarity about how differing perspectives, expectations, and identities shape decision-making, communication, and conflict in family firms. The session emphasizes the importance of open, transparent communication as a leadership capability, offering practical tools to surface assumptions, reduce misunderstandings, and build trust across generations and roles.

Session Two: Aligning for the Future
The second session focuses on alignment especially at the ownership level. Participants examine the unique role of owners in setting direction, defining success, and stewarding the enterprise over time. Through guided discussion and applied exercises, leaders work on articulating a shared vision for the future, clarifying both financial and non-financial goals, and understanding how ownership alignment supports effective governance and leadership continuity.

Throughout both sessions, the emphasis is practical, reflective, and relevant to real family enterprises. Participants leave with a shared language, actionable frameworks, and a clearer understanding of how to lead more intentionally within the family enterprise system.
