There are many hotel options in the San Diego and La Jolla area within a reasonable distance to UC San Diego.  Here are a few directly surrounding the local area or favorites of our visitors.  The “SDSC Visitor Information” link below provides a broader list.  Many of the local hotels will offer a university discount.  Most discounts will require a phone call. 

Surrounding Campus

• Sheraton La Jolla Hotel: This hotel offers special UCSD rates when available. Current 2026 discounted rates start at 15% off. These rates are based on hotel availability and subject to change at any time. 
  • Go to the Bartell Hotels/UCSD Medical Center site.
  • Select one of the hotels on the page.
  • Click on the booking link or call the hotel's toll-free reservations number.
  • If booking over the phone, mention the partnership with Family Houses at UC San Diego Health to receive the reduced rate.
• Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa – located directly off campus (5 min walk) 
• Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines 
• Residence Inn San Diego La Jolla
• The Lodge Torrey Pines

Parking & Transportation

Permits are required when parking on campus. The Hopkins Parking Structure sits just to the south of SDSC and west of Qualcomm Institute. More information can be found here: https://transportation.ucsd.edu/visit/visitor/index.html.

Transportation
Ride share services are recommended if you chose not to drive onto campus. UC San Diego also has new trolley service through MTS Blue Line Trolley.
