PDV Workshop 2026

May 19-20, 2026

Compton Union Building (CUB) Senior Ballroom

Washington State University

Pullman, Washington

Workshop Description

The 2026 PDV workshop is the 13th meeting dedicated to high-speed optical diagnostics.  The principal focus is Photonic Doppler Velocimetry, an established technique for dynamic compression, explosive testing, and other destructive experiments.

This meeting brings a wide range of PDV users and technology vendors together for formal presentations and lots of informal discussion.  The workshop is open to all interested participants.

Contributed presentations typically cover PDV applications, system developments, supporting technologies, and analysis techniques.  Previous examples may be found at the new PDV workshop archive. https://shock.wsu.edu/pdv-workshop/pdv-workshop-archive/

Adjacent diagnostic presentations--such as optical ranging, time-stretch spectroscopy, and other novel techniques--are also included.  A uniting theme for the workshop is fiber-based diagnostics, particularly those involving single-mode light propagation.

One Day Training Session

Based on community feedback, a one-day training session may be offered on May 18, 2026.  This session would combine lecture, hands on experience, and data analysis training. Priority will be given to new users, particularly students and those who have not participated in any previous PDV workshop.
