Advanced PEPSE Power Uprate Training Overview

February 3-6,2026

PEPSE is Curtiss-Wright's predictive, energy balance software that has been used in the power industry for decades and is considered an industry standard for thermal performance applications. With the nuclear fleet's increased focus on power uprates, we've decided to offer a training course tailored to using PEPSE to model uprate scenarios. If your plant is undergoing power uprates and you want to learn how to use advanced PEPSE features from the experts, it is well-advised to participate in this Curtiss-Wright PEPSE seminar. No one else can provide the same level of expertise. This course is for nuclear power plant applications and is in-person only.

This seminar covers advanced use of the PEPSE software:

  • Understanding of all the PEPSE basics, plus all the advanced features while benchmarking user experiences
  • Workshops including many hands-on exercises, solidifying all the principles learned in the class
  • Proficiency in using Special Features for improving productivity in the use of PEPSE for the power uprate studies
  • Instructor support with real-world studies addressing your plant’s specific issues

Registered participants will have direct input on the topics covered in the class.  Some possible topics that can be covered are:

  • Tune a PEPSE model to plant data
  • Design Mode component tuning (feedwater heater, condenser, MSR, heat exchangers, etc.)
  • Plant cycle modifications
  • Modeling for power uprates: EPU, SPU, MUR
  • Taking equipment out of service
  • Condenser studies (back pressure effects, circulating water temperature, tube plugging, etc.)
  • Equipment modification or replacement studies
  • Modeling dump and bypass valves
  • Performing sensitivity studies to develop performance curves and trend changes over operating ranges

Who Should Attend?

Engineers and others involved in the performance evaluation, or design of nuclear power plants, who have already participated in basic PEPSE training, use PEPSE regulary,  and want to expand their modeling capabilities for power uprate studies. Due to the level of interest in this course, it will be limited to power plant users only (excluding consultants, engineer/architects, etc)

Get the theory and hands-on experience in using PEPSE's advanced features for your plant's future power uprate from our expert PEPSE staff including Greg Alder, Scott Nedrow, and Justin Strupp, P.E.

Advanced PEPSE Power Uprate training registrants should have a in-depth knowledge of power plant operations and the plant thermal cycle as well as familiarity with the use of PEPSE.
