In 2020, eHealthWeek will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Rovinj, Croatia, from April 15 to 17. Recognizing this special occasion and Europe’s transition to a mature digital health market, this year’s event focuses less on technology and more on understanding the challenges and opportunities offered by the data collected in the last 10 years. EHealthWeek consists of high-level meetings, hosted by the Croatian EU Presidency alongside a full conference programme open to all attendees an exhibition and multiple networking opportunities.

About the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union

From 1 January to 30 June 2020, Croatia is taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the fi­rst time, under the motto "A strong Europe in a world of challenges". Croatian priorities are: A Europe that develops, A Europe that connects, A Europe that protects, An influential Europe.

As part of the process of achieving sustainable development goals in the fi‑eld of healthcare, the Croatian Presidency will encourage discussions on lifelong healthcare. Faced with the burden of population ageing and the increased prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases, the Presidency wishes to encourage a more efficient utilisation of accessible health care solutions.

About Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia

The Constitution of the Republic of Croatia guarantees everyone the "right to health care in accor-dance with law", and that right is exercised through the health care system, which falls within the responsibility of the Ministry of Health. The health care system includes health care service of interest to the Republic of Croatia, which is being performed as a public service based on professional medical doctrine and with the use of medical technology in the provision of health care. The health care system is primarily determined by the Health Care Act, which forms the fundamental framework of the National Health Care Strategy 2012 - 2020.

By Digital Economy and Society Index 2019, Croatia performs very well in e-prescriptions, and there is a high level of online interaction between public authorities and members of the public. 75 % of online users actively embrace e-government services. In 2018, Croatia performed better than the previous year as regards pre-filled forms. Furthermore, the availability of e-government services for business is on the rise. Croatia performs well the provision of e-health services and it ranks 10th in the EU as regards online users (22 % of online users). 97 % of general practitioners use e-prescriptions and 51 % of them exchange medical data.
