We’re excited to invite professionals from across the industry to share their knowledge, experience, and fresh ideas at our upcoming convention in Kansas City. This year, we’ve launched a new speaker portal to make it easier than ever to submit and review proposed classes.

Speaker Proposal FAQ

 

Thank you for your interest in teaching at the 2026 National Chimney Sweep Guild (NCSG) Convention! Below you'll find answers to frequently asked questions about the submission process, speaker expectations, and session guidelines.


When and where is the 2026 NCSG Convention?

The 2026 NCSG National Convention will take place February 24-28, 2026 at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri.


When do education sessions take place?

Education sessions run Wednesday through Saturday during the convention.


When are speaker proposals due?

All submissions must be received by August 22, 2025. Late proposals may not be considered.


What compensation is offered to speakers?

Standard speaker compensation includes:

  • 1 Full Registration to the 2026 NCSG Convention

  • 1 hotel room night at the host hotel per day of speaking

For panels:

  • The moderator receives full standard compensation.

  • Panel participants may receive limited or no compensation depending on the size and structure of the panel. This is determined on a case-by-case basis

If you require additional compensation, please include your request in the appropriate section of your proposal. All additional compensation requests will be reviewed and negotiated individually.


What is the selection timeline?

  • July–August: Presentation proposals accepted

  • September: Speaker Selection Committee reviews submissions

  • October: Final session selections made

  • October–November: Notifications sent via email to all applicants


Can I submit more than one proposal?

Yes! Multiple submissions are welcome and encouraged. You may submit a variety of topics across different tracks.


Who reviews the speaker submissions?

All proposals are carefully reviewed by the NCSG Speaker Selection Committee to create a well-rounded, relevant, and engaging educational schedule for the Convention.

The committee is composed of the Education Committee Chair, Education Director, Events Committee Chair, NCSG President, and other qualified industry professionals from across the country.

What topics are you looking for?

We welcome proposals that serve field professionals, business owners, and office staff. Topics may include but are not limited to:

Technical Topics:

  • Chimney construction

  • Relining and flue liners

  • Sweeping techniques and tools

  • System installation

  • Codes, standards, and fire safety compliance

Business & Office Topics:

  • Customer service

  • Office and CSR management

  • Business development and scaling

  • Sales training and conversion strategies

Emerging Trends & Innovation:

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) in the chimney trade

  • Marketing strategies and digital branding

  • Communication and leadership skills

  • New tools, tech, and software for sweep companies

We strongly encourage fresh, forward-thinking content that equips professionals for the future of the industry.


How long are the sessions?

  • Standard sessions are 90 minutes - Full time may be used for presentation or some time may be left to address questions at the presenter's discretion.

  • Occasionally, a 2-part session totaling 3 hours may be approved and scheduled across two time slots


How many sessions will be selected?

A total of 36 sessions will be scheduled across the week.


What are the session tracks?

We organize sessions into three primary tracks:

  • Technical (sweeping, installation, code updates)

  • Business (management, sales, leadership, growth)

  • Office & CSR (customer service, communication, scheduling)


Are panels allowed?

Yes! Panel discussions are encouraged, especially for topics that benefit from a range of perspectives and shared experiences.

  • Each panel must have a designated moderator who is responsible for recruiting panelists, managing the discussion, and coordinating with all participants in advance.

  • Panels must fit within the 90-minute session window (unless part of an approved two-part session) and should include a moderator and no more than five panelists.


What makes a strong proposal?

Great proposals typically:

  • Clearly define learning objectives

  • Offer practical takeaways

  • Reflect speaker expertise and industry relevance

  • Avoid product promotion unless part of a designated sponsor session


Can I co-present with someone else?

Yes! Co-presenters are welcome. Please include complete contact info for each presenter in your submission.
