Course description:

This conference explores multidisciplinary care for patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomies, offering best practices and strategies to optimize outcomes in patients with alternative airways. Topics include complex surgical and clinical decision-making, and evidence-based strategies to enhance swallowing, communication, and respiratory function in patients with alternative airways. 

Course objectives:

  • Discuss complex surgical and clinical decision-makingfor patients with alternative airways.

  • Summarize strategies to maximize outcomes for laryngectomy patients.

  • Describe comprehensive management of the tracheotomized patient.

  • Discuss strategies and clinical practice guidelines to improve multidisciplinary team communication and patient navigation throughout the continuum of care and management.
