The Basics

  • What is LLS Climb 2 Cure?
    • LLS Climb 2 Cure is a philanthropic adventure program where participants take on epic journeys while raising funds for life-saving in partnership wtih Embark Exploration Co.
  • Why join?
    • In addiiton to making a lasting impactin the pursuit of a cure for blood cancers, participants who join Climb 2 Cure will enjoy a trip of a lifetime and recieve: 
      • An exclusive adventure experience that can't be found anywhere else.
      • Fully guided trip hosted and executed by Embark Exploration Co. 
      • White-glove, on-site service and accommodations (where applicable).
      • LLS dedicated, Mission-centric experiences throughout. 
      • A new community of like-minded individuals and changemakers.
        • Event specific calls and message groups will be available for those on exclusive trips.
      • Fundrasing recognition and incentives.
      • 1:1 fundraising support.
      • Training specific to their event (if Patagonia, Cotopaxi or Kilimanjaro) OR general training plans for a DIY event. 
      • The chance to make an impact on the LLS Mission by raising epic funds!

  • Will these locations change? 
    • Yes! Year over year, these trip locations will rotate to continuously introduce fresh, new adventures each year.
  • What is the cost?
    • For this program, each participant is responsible for covering their own trip fees and airfare. They will be eligible for reimbursement of these fees if they qualify for the Travel Reimburesment Incentive. The cost will vary per trip based on location and total number of participants on the trip and all trip fees should be made payable to Embark. Generally, participants can expect trip fees to cost between $3,000-$5,000 plus airfare. 

Embark Exploration Co.

  • Who is Embark Exploration?
    • Embark Exploration Co. is our adventure outfitters that plans, preps, and executes our climbs. They have been supporting LLS since 2017, at the inception of the Climb 2 Cure program. This team will help answer any logistical and planing questions for our participants- including but not limited to:
      • Trip costs and payments.
      • Specific itinerary questions. 
      • Onsite meals and accomodations.
      • Gear needs. 
      • Flight and insurance advice. 
      • Onsite needs and emergencies.
  • What is the timeline for these trips?
    • General timeline
      • 12-5 months out: LLS registration and fundraising begins. Connect with Embark and secure your spot w/ $500 non-refundable deposit (best to do as early as possible).
      • 5 months out: Training starts & Embark trip specific call.
      • 5 months out: WhatsApp group created for the trip by Embark.
      • 4 months oute: Trip registration cut off.
      • 3 months out: Payments due. 
      • 1 month out: 2nd Embark Trip specific call. 
  • Is there an age limit?
    • ​​​​​​​Individuals under 18 will be accepted to climb on a case-by-case basis and in most cases should not be an issue. Individuals 67+ will need to be asked for a doctor's clearance before climbing. 
  • Trip Change Disclaimer
    • ​​​​​​​Day-to-day itinerary details are subject to change per Embark Exploration Co.'s discretion and will be communicated if or when changes are made. Please work with Embark directly to determine travel plans after you hae secured your spot on the trip. 
  • Insurance Information
    • ​​​​​​​Embark Exploration Co. does require each individual to purchase travel insurance. These details will be disclosed by Embark. All questions regarding insurance should be directed to Embark Exploration Co.

Fundraising & Recruitment 

  • What are some characteristics of a Climb2Cure Participant? 
    • ​​​​​​​Capacity and affinity to raise BIG.
    • Loves adventure.
    • Network that will support either as donors or team members.
    • Passionate advocate on behalf of the LLS Mission. 
    • Individuals looking for something new and epic as their next step in their LLS Journey.
  • ​​​​​​​ What are the fundraising expectations?
    • ​​​​​​​For the exclusive LLS trips, each fundraiser is encouraged to commit to partering with LLS and fundraising $5,000+. Each trip will be assigned a collective fundraising goal of $500,000.
    • DIY Particiapnts are held to a fundraising expectation of $1,000 each. Cards will not be charged should a participant not meet their goal, but all should strive to hit and exceed these minimums
  • Are these participants eligible for recognition opportunities? 
    • ​​​​​​​Yes! In addtion to scheduled incentives and the Travel Reimbursement incentive, participants are eligible to earn the Hero Award & Impact Awards.
  • Is there a capacity limitation for these events? 
    • ​​​​​​​No! You can grow your team to any size! The sky is the limit!
  • What happens if I can no longer participate? 
    • ​​​​​​​LLS: The participant may either drop from their event with no further fundraising responsibilities or transfer to anotehr event within the year- this may be a DIY event with Embark or another LLS exclusive climb if available. It should be noted that deposits made with Embark are non-refundable and some trip fees, if paid out, may not be refundable depending on Embark's refund policy. See below.
    • Embark Exploration Co: Embark has specifc refund policies that are applicable based on the "drop" date. They will review this information with the participant upon registration. These terms are non-negotiable through LLS. Initial deposits are non-refundable unless Embark so chooses to refund in extraordinary circumstances.
