About the Event
The Workshop on Low-Carbon Concrete: Industry Trends and their Impact on ASTM Cement and Concrete Standards will be held December 7, 2025, from 1:00pm - 7:00pm EST. The workshop is organized by ASTM Committee C01 on Cement and Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates, and will be held at the Hilton Atlanta, Atlanta, Georgia, United States in conjunction with the standards development meetings of the committee. The language of the workshop will be English.
Objective and Scope
This workshop will examine the release of new code requirements, government grants, and the increased use of reduced carbon materials, and their impact on ASTM International’s standards, guides, practices, and test methods used in the cement and concrete industry.
Topics for this workshop include:
- Common definitions
- GWP (basics, calculations, examples)
- PCR and EPDs (what are they, how are they obtained, where are they sourced, how long are they good for)
- Low-carbon, reduced-carbon, and net zero
- What are the implications or missing elements within the cement and concrete committees’ documents that need to be addressed?
- What does this mean for testing (procedures, results, prequalification), timeliness of results versus application?
- Qualification, classification, and definition of new materials
- Adapting and new materials such as Type IL or Type IT cement, SCMs, etc.
- Policy adoptions in practice, i.e. who is using or demanding this type of concrete?

Continuing Education Units
Workshop attendees interested in receiving 0.53 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) must complete the CEU application form in the back of the program booklet and email it to ASTM Symposia Operations at symposia@astm.org. You must be registered and have attended the entire event in order to receive the CEU’s. A certificate will be sent to you via email approximately 1 to 2 weeks after the workshop concludes.

The Hilton Atlanta has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate. The government per diem rates are set by fiscal year, effective October 1 each year; you will be charged the prevailing rate at the time of the meeting, not at the time of booking. CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: Cancellations made within 72 hours prior to 4:00 pm day of arrival will forfeit one night's room and tax required for each reservation.
IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.
The December Committee Week Hotel provides prime meeting space for your committee meetings, events, and activities. ASTM International is legally bound to fill the contracted guest room block, and an inability to fill the block will result in severe financial penalties, which could affect negotiations and increase costs for future meetings.
