The Energy Regulation Quarterly is pleased to advise that it is re-launching the Energy Law Forum.
This year’s event will take place in the Compass Room at the Casino Nova Scotia on May 7 & 8, 2025.
The Casino Nova Scotia is directly connected to the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.
U.S. President Trump’s tariff agenda has shaken the world out of a political and economic slumber – and it has stimulated a range of responses. The shakeup is felt particularly strongly in Canada – raising many of the classic issues of Canada’s national debate: American economic influence; the north-south trade vs east-west linkages; the balance between addressing environmental concerns and developing our resources; the dynamic tension between energy producing provinces and energy consuming provinces; the role of regulatory bodies and courts; and the place of media and pressure groups in making decisions on complex issues of great national importance.
One thing is clear, Canadians are revisiting many assumptions about our economic wellbeing and our status in the world. All of this makes a discussion about energy sovereignty very timely. Its relevance to energy law is relevant, so this relaunch of the Energy Law Forum under ERQ on the topic is an appropriate place to have the conversation.
