Workshop on Metal Powder Characterization will be held April 15, 2025. The workshop is organized by ASTM Committee B09 on Metal Powders and Metal Powder, and will be held at the Hampton Inn & Suites Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach, Florida, United States in conjunction with the standards development meetings of the committee. The language of the workshop will be English.
Objective and Scope
Some metal powder characterization techniques that have yet to be standardized will be reviewed, and the parameters they measure defined and explained. Rotating drum testers and rotating blade rheometers will be covered and the effect of laboratory testing conditions such as relative humidity will be illustrated. Powder spreadability will be discussed along with methods for testing it directly or correlating rheological test results with spreading characteristics.
