Part 1: Developing Global Communication Competency in Engineering

In today's globalized engineering landscape, communicating effectively across cultures is crucial for success in international corporate settings. However, many engineering graduates lack the cross-cultural understanding, empathy, and comprehensive communication skills required to excel in global work environments. The International Division of the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) received a grant from EIF to develop the "Global Communication Competency in Engineering" project to address this gap. This innovative initiative aims to enhance undergraduate engineering students' communication skills, focusing on mastering the art of conveying critical information to diverse audiences through various means, including listening, speaking, writing, and using visual and graphic tools. The ACIEE 2025 Colloquium will feature a professional development workshop, Global Communication Competency in Engineering, led by Dr. Araceli Ortiz and Sigrid Berka for faculty and other educators, showcasing and engaging with the fifteen selected modules which were created for undergraduate engineering students to master global communication skills. Resources will include short, 2 min recorded seminars, (and 35 min. longer versions available online), and participants' feedback loops.

Part 2: Assessing Global Competency in Engineering More information to come.
