About the Event
The Workshop for On-Line Process NMR Technology: Utilizing ASTM Standards and Practices will be held June 23, 2025. The workshop is organized by ASTM Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants, and will be held at the The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center, Kansas City, Missouri, USA in conjunction with the standards development meetings of the committee. The language of the workshop will be English.
Objective and Scope
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy, both in the lab and on-line, has been an essential technology in the characterization of all petroleum materials (crude oil through gases) since its commercialization by Russell Varian in the mid-1950s. Unfortunately, NMR remains effectively an “unknown” within ASTM.
This workshop will provide information on the use of NMR in hydrocarbon analyses, laboratory and on-line application areas, and the “symbiotic” utilization of published ASTM optical spectroscopy and chemometric methodologies, practices, and guidelines in its implementation.
