Call for Abstracts

Guidelines:

Please ensure that you read the guidelines set out below before submitting an abstract online. Abstracts must conform to the guidelines below.

The minimum browser settings for the online system are: Chrome version 22.x or higher, Firefox version 16.x or higher, Internet Explorer version 9.x or higher.

The Scientific Committee invites and encourages authors and departments to plan their submissions for 2021: Deadline for submissions: 11pm on 15th July 2021

PCCS is offering generous prizes for the presentations that demonstrate the most valuable contribution to paediatric patient care in PIC Units. The prizes are:

2 Best Oral Presentations: £250 each
2 Best Oral Poster Presentations; £150 each
1 Best Poster Presentation: £100

Guidelines for submitting an Abstract

The online system will guide you through the required information.

Abstract Topics

The online system will prompt you to select the most appropriate general topic category for your submission from this list below:

Quality Improvement
Research
Basic Science
Translational Medicine
Qualitative Investigation
Clinical Practice
Education

These categories will be used for reviewing and scheduling purposes.

Submitter (User)

In order to submit online you will need to set yourself up as a User. Once set up, you can submit numerous abstracts via your Profile.

It is the responsibility of the Submitter (User) to pass on any relevant information regarding the meeting to the other authors, and ensure that all authors approve the submission and presentation.

Presenting Author

The online system will ask you to confirm the Presenting Author. All presentations (oral or poster) must be made by a listed author who has been directly involved in the project. All Presenting Authors must register (and pay) to attend the Conference.

Abstract Formatting Guidelines

Abstracts must use the following outline (with the exception of case reports):

Introduction and aims
Methods
Results
Discussion and conclusion

For case reports ONLY use the following section headings:

Introduction
Case Summary
Conclusion

For all abstracts:

The maximum length of an abstract is 300 words; this count excludes the abstract title, authors and their designations. The 300 word limit INCLUDES up to 3 references, Vancouver style).

Uploads

The system will allow one upload of a Word or jpeg file to accompany your text. The word count within the table / figure must be included in the overall word count.

Disclosures

Funding sources or other acknowledgements should be declared, as should conflict of Interest, where prompted under “Disclosures to declare”

Information to note

The decision of the Reviewers on the acceptability of the submission is final.
While preferences for oral or poster presentation will be considered, the Reviewers may offer the alternative format. No correspondence on their decision can be initiated by the author(s) or submitter.

ALL PRESENTING AUTHORS MUST REGISTER AS DELEGATES WITHOUT EXCEPTION and the submission of an abstract serves as confirmation of the presenter’s availability to attend and pay for being at the Conference.

All abstracts will be acknowledged via the online system. If you have not had a confirmation of receipt within 7 days of your submission, please contact the Abstract Secretariat at picsuk@indexcommunications.com

Instructions on the timings and duration of oral presentations and the format and size of posters will be given in the result correspondence which will be issued by mid-August 2021 if not earlier. If you have not received a result by the end of August 2021, please contact the Secretariat. If an abstract cannot be presented at the Conference, the Secretariat must be notified in writing in advance to avoid compromise to the professionalism of the event.

The PCCS 2021 Reviewers reserve the right to accept or refuse an abstract, to designate abstracts as either oral or poster presentations and to choose a suitable session for the abstract.
Declaration of Consent to Publication and Assignation of Copyright:
By submitting an abstract the authors collectively accept the following:

I confirm that I checked this abstract before submission and that all information is correct. I accept that the content of this abstract cannot be modified or corrected after final submission and I am aware that it will be published exactly as submitted. Submission of the abstract constitutes my consent to publication (e.g. conference website, programs, other promotions, etc.) The Abstract Submitter warrants and represents that he/she is the sole owner or has the rights of all the information and content (“Content”) provided to PCCS 2021 Conference and Paediatric Critical Care Society in the UK (Hereafter: “The Organisers”). The publication of the abstract does not infringe any third party rights including, but not limited to, intellectual property rights. The Abstract Submitter grants the Organisers a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable nonexclusive license to use, reproduce, publish, translate, distribute, and display the Content. The Organisers reserve the right to remove from any publication an abstract which does not comply with the above. The corresponding author is responsible for informing the other authors about the status of the abstract.
