AdvantAge Ontario welcomes and encourages presentation proposals from all those engaged in not-for-profit long-term care, seniors' housing and community services. You do not need to be a member to submit a presentation proposal.

What types of presentations are you looking for?
Convention 2025 will offer three full days of education with exciting new sessions formats that encourage audience engagement and participation. Keep reading for a complete list of 2025 presentation types, subject areas, and a helpful audience profile.

Across all session types and subject areas, our most successful speakers:

  • showcase member case studies with lessons learned;
  • offer "how-to" information that provides attendees with new skills, more efficient processes, or technology;
  • share established, innovative and emerging best practices; and
  • offer practical, forward-thinking insights that promote the exchange of ideas.

Presentation Types
The following list of new and established sessions styles will help you decide what format fits your topic best. Click the dropdown to learn more about each one!

▽ Concurrent Sessions

Concurrent sessions typically focus on emerging sector issues, successful practices and programs, research, and other relevant content. Concurrent sessions will take place on April 30, May 1 and May 2, 2025. These sessions follow an informal seminar format, are 60-minutes in length, may include up to 2 presenters, and are intended for 25-100 participants. Presenters are expected to engage participants in interactive learning activities, provide handouts, and allow 10-15 minutes for discussion.

▽ Ask the Expert Session - New!

The Ask the Expert sessions are an informal but structured conversation between a moderator, panelists and the audience. The conversation follows an interview-style format and gives the speaker(s) a platform to dive deeper into an emerging sector issue or topic, successful practices and programs, and other relevant content. It is imperative that your submission provides the panelists and the scope of the session (i.e. how your submission fits this format, topics to be discussed, goals/takeaways of the fireside chat). With regards to a moderator, we are open to suggestions should you have a moderator in mind, but AdvantAge Ontario approves final moderators. These sessions are 90-minutes in length and are intended for 25-150 participants. Presenters are expected to engage participants in interactive learning activities, such as poll questions or Q&A.

▽ Walk About a Problem - New!

Forget talking about a problem, starting today we walk about a problem! In these fun, highly engaging sessions, the speaker will deliver a short presentation and then give a real-world problem to participants. The participants will then get into groups of two or three and walk around the venue for up to 20 minutes, discussing and solving the problem. When they're done walking about the problem, they'll bring their solutions back to the seminar room and the presenter will lead an interactive, solution-focused discussion for the remainder of the session. This will be a 60-75 minute session and is intended for 25-50 people.

▽ Poster Sessions

We are bringing back the poster presentation for 2025 Convention! Do you have an exciting and successful clinical program, best practice, model of care, new build, (re)development, fundraising initiative, etc., that you want to share? This is a great opportunity to do so! For a dedicated section of the posters, we're inviting members and allied health professionals (e.g., Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietitian) to highlight these experiences and successes in the long-term care or housing sectors. The Poster Session is a display presentation that will be up for display Wednesday, April 30 and Thursday May 2, 2025. New this year, AdvantAge Ontario will take your electronic material and have it professionally mounted on poster boards and showcased at the event. Abstracts submitted must report on work completed and include the following information: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion or Next Steps. Please note that accepted poster board submissions are not eligible for a complimentary pass, nor is there an expectation to be present at the event.
