All Ontario long-term care homes will be required to transition to the new standardized resident assessment measures and reporting tools by April 2026. In this essential pre-Convention education session, you'll get practical, relevant information about this transition directly from representatives of the Ministry of Long-Term Care. You'll also hear from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), which is leading adoption of the new standards, PointClickCare, and early-adopter homes.

Our goal is to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the new interRAI Long-Term Care Facilities (iLTCF) assessment instrument and how to use its data more effectively to address specific resident needs and deliver more person-centred care. Benefit from lessons learned by those who are already using these tools to make informed decisions, tailor care plans and track progress

  • Learn about the values and benefits of using the new interRAI LTCF assessment tool, the resources available to support the transition to this new system, timelines and how to prepare for the change.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of CIHI’s role in facilitating and supporting interRAI assessments, including collaborating with healthcare organizations to implement the new tool.
  • Get a clear understanding of the differences between interRAI LTCF and RAI MDS 2.0 and the advantages of the new assessment.
  • Hear about the benefits of the new Integrated interRAI Reporting System (IRRS) for data collection as well as the IRRS Secure Reporting tool.
  • Benefit from practical insights from previous implementation experiences, get configuration tips from early adopter homes and have your questions answered by software vendor PointClickCare.

We are pleased to welcome Assistant Deputy Ministry Kelly McAslan, who will provide opening remarks at this session.

Complex legislative requirements, coupled with uncertain case law, have caused many long-term care homes to raise concerns about the future of pay equity. Join us for this hot topic and increase your knowledge about the current legislative requirements, gain an overview of the past treatment of pay equity payments, and gain clarity on what potential future obligations may look like.

Starting with a brief overview of the legislation, this session will cover the various methods of pay equity (job-to-job, proportionate-value, and proxy). It will also discuss the requirement for pay equity maintenance and take a deeper examination of the history of the proxy-method as well as case law in this area and what the future would look like.

Presented by leading experts in the field, this session will also include a panel discussion where you will gain expert knowledge and hear from other AdvantAge Ontario members, on how pay equity has been achieved and maintained and how they addressed the problems they have encountered.

  • Receive a detailed look at current legislation and compliance requirements
  • Understand the various methods of pay equity
  • In-depth look at the history of the proxy method and prepare yourself for the future
  • Hear from member LTC homes about their experiences with pay equity payments
