Walk for Waldenstrom's FAQs

What is Walk for Waldenstrom’s? Walk for Waldenstrom’s is a 1-mile walk/run fund raising and awareness event for the IWMF and global WM community of patients, care partners, friends, and family.

When is the Walk for Waldenstrom’s? We encourage our participants to organize local walks throughout September during Blood Cancer Awareness Month.

Where do the funds raised go? These funds support vital WM research, and allows IWMF to continue offering publication resources, education, and support programs to WM community members across the globe.

Can I participate even if I don’t attend a walk? Absolutely! You can still create a fundraiser or join a team, participating in a walk is not required.

Do I need to register? Yes, if you are participating as a fundraiser. If you are only making a donation, you do not need to register.

Is there a registration fee? There is no registration fee to participate.

How do I set up a fundraising page? Here are directions for setting up a fundraising page. You can also reach out to staff for help via email office@iwmf.com or call our office at (941) 927-4963.

Do I need to join a team? No, you do not need to join a team. Individuals are welcome to join us and set up a fundraising page.

How do I join a team or start one? It is easy to join or start a team. Follow the directions here or contact us for assistance. 

What is Mightycause? Mightycause is the fundraising platform that we use to collect donations for the Walk. Donation payments are processed through Mightycause.

How do I find a team? You can search for a team on the Walk for Waldenstrom's Mightycause event platform HERE

What responsibilities does the team manager have? Our team managers are the core of the team. We ask team managers to recruit family, friends, and co-workers, and help them fundraise. The team manager will help provide support and motivation for the team.

How many people should be on a team? There is no required minimum or maximum number of participants on a team.

When and how do I start fundraising? The first step is to get registered. You can either join a team, start a new team, or create an individual fundraising page.

Can I use social media to fundraise? Yes, it is a great way to reach more people and we strongly encourage it.

How do I create a fundraising page for myself and or a team page? Check out our How to Participate tab on the menu bar for details.

Our team has raised money but we are not showing up on the leaderboard, why? This could have happened for a number of reasons, please contact us and we will work to rectify the issue.

Are there prizes for top fundraisers? Not only are you fundraising to help IWMF fund support and research, but you can also earn some IWMF swag and complimentary registration for the IWMF Ed Forum. Sorry, prizes are for fundraisers only, individual donor or donations are not eligible. Click here to review the requirements and prizes.

What is the general fund? The general fund for the Walk are donations made to IWMF without going through a Walk team or individual fundraiser.

How are donations collected? Donations can be made directly on the fundraising page in Mightycause with a credit card. You may also mail a check to the organization using this form.

How do I know where walks are being held? Check out our Walks tab in the menu bar above for the current list of organized walks. This page will be updated as walks are organized.

I don’t see a walk listed in my area, can I help set up a walk? We would love that! Please contact us and we will assist in the coordination of a walk.

How do I track my miles for the Around the World Challenge? So excited that you are joining our trek around the world. Please sign up here, once you complete that you can add your distance or activity here. You can view all the details and map dashboard on the Tracking 25,000 Miles tab in the menu bar above.
