For your convenience, we've compiled general information about visiting the center and the surrounding Washington, D.C. metro area. GETTING TO ALEXANDRIA
Air
The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is closest to Alexandria, VA, and is only about 15 minutes from any of the hotels listed. Two other airports, Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) in Maryland and Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Virginia, sometimes offer significantly lower fares. Each of these airports is approximately an hour drive from Alexandria, VA, and requires use of a shuttle service, taxi cab, rental car or public transportation.

Train
Amtrak has rail stations in Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC. For fares and schedules please call 800 USA RAIL (800-872-7245) or visit their web site.
The MARC train runs from BWI into Washington, DC’s Union Station for less than $10, Monday-Friday, 5:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m., with limited service on weekends. For more information visit their web site. From Union Station, you can take the metro into Alexandria.

GETTING AROUND TOWN

Various rideshare apps offer transportation services. Feel free to use your favorite app to explore the city!

Bus & Metro
Visitors can use the trains, buses, or a combination of the two to get to get around the area. Check out the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority website to get more details about exploring Washington D.C. and the surrounding area. For information on Alexandria’s local bus transit, check out the DASH bus website. The DASH bus is free - just hop on a ride!
